Photos Feel Goood

When gloomy days come, as creatives we look for ways to bring the sunny days back in our life so we could continue being designers, artists and, ahem, lovers or whatever role we play. It’s simply hard to come up with nice designs when you feel like your insides have turned into mash potatoes, even your swift 15-inch MacBook Pro feels like it’s been wrongly injected with a decaf espresso when you're not in-sync! 
So What to do? As for me, when these days come I turn to my personal Happy Days Archive, a.k.a iPhoto and Canon S95. It simply lifts you up to see vacation pictures, friends smiling, silly videos etc. Of course, no one can expect you to find endorphins seeing my family and friends fooling around, so let me just share these nice sunny pictures that is sure to make anyone feel better. Enjoy!

Do you still remember those days, when there is no such thing as LCD preview, delete and GB on your camera? I personally miss those days, when you really have to think of each shot and spend hours in the darkroom making images come alive. There's somehow art to it.

Super Designers

One of those nice magazine ads created in PubliGestion S.A.

Like Flash imbued with super speed, you go down to the brasserie, whip your camera out, zoom pass from one tank to the other, click, click, hop back to the car, jump into Photoshop, edit, edit, layout, design… the next morning client and colleagues come wowed by your superhero feat!  
One of the joys of working as a graphic designer in Haiti is it pushes you to your limits and forces you to go out of your comfort zone. With tight deadlines (very tight) and with the least amount of resources you find yourself creating a design that would’ve taken twice the time and thrice the resources in other countries. 
This Brana ad was created like that. The result is a pleasing design. Of course, the first paragraph is an exaggeration of speed but I imagine (actually, it feels like it) that’s how we work as graphic designers in Haiti. Haha!
