State of Whitespacelover

Let's cover this map with more colors! ;-)

After two weeks of silence here at Whitespacelover, a silence due to life’s ups and downs, the lover is back again! No excuses though. So let’s start with the state of Whitespacelover. I’m very pleased to inform that a lot of changes happened to the blog since it’s inception last year namely:

I’m very happy to report that since the 28th of March, we’ve been gathering more and more visits from all over the world—we have visitors as far as Russia, more and more visits from Europe and the US. Thank you all! The visitor’s map looks a lot better with colours all over it. Top five visits come from Haiti, US, Philippines and then surprisingly Switzerland followed by Germany! The visits may not amount to thousands but nonetheless Merci beaucoup ! Thank you! Salamat po! Und danke!
Whitespacelover.com is now an officially registered domain. Making it more search engine friendly. Gives it a nice image too and opens up possibilities!
Some SEO practices were implemented to the site, namely:

The introduction of meta tags and alt tags in the images. For some reason the bots love those.
Titles are now geared towards being search engine friendlier.
And of course, the obvious, using labels and peppering entries with keywords. The better optimization for search engines, the quicker the content gets to you or to people searching over the web.

Life might’ve thrown in its unpleasant surprise this month, but life just gets better and better. More good things to come in the future, so stay tuned for the next entries.

Living in Haiti for the past few years have been pleasurable, fun and challenging. Analytics: Getting To Know Each Other

The third entry is always special, rule of three. It’s time to get to know each other… There is built-in stats in Blogger and there is also Google Analytics, this blog uses both. So now, its time to say some very specific thanks for the visits:
Pour les Haitiens et les Suisses (Françaises), merci beacoup ! To the US, thank you! Sa mga kabayan, salamat po! Brasiliero, obrigado! Nach Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz, danken! To the visitors in Hungary, Singapore and Indonesia thank you! (sorry don’t know how to say it in your native tongue.)

So now, here’s some pieces of wisdom about stats and analytics from a prehistoric T-rex behind this blog be sure to listen!

If you’re using Analytics, be sure to filter out the IP Addresses of your computer, laptop and captive audiences such as officemates, bestfriend, girlfriend and those that will visit your site on your demand. This skews your numbers and doesn’t give you a true picture of what’s happening to your site. The saying "a traffic is a traffic," is complete BS.

Get Google Analytics. It’s a lot better than Blogger Stats. You have more specialized tools.

If you’re planning to SEO your blog and get an idea for keywords, Analytics will definitely help you.

If you want to get more intimate with your readers, pay close attention to how they use your site and which pages they read and go to.

And finally, use analytics information wisely. Here are some examples:

Develop content that are relevant to your readers.
Thank them in their own language. This is fun. Haha! ;-)

SEO Whitespacelover

Whitespacelover soft launch via Twitter went, uh… let’s not say bad words. Look on the bright side, this blog is now 2 entries old, tested on a PC, search engine optimized (SEO for the web savvy) and now ready to be announced on Facebook. Family and friends, get ready for Phase 3!
We’re not going to spend this entry talking about how to step by step SEO your blog, but let me just extend a helping hand to the old timer—pre-facebook bloggers—and to the newbs. Here’s a link to a complete guide on how to SEO your blog from Magznetwork Solution.
Like what was said in the last entry, don’t try to be what you’re not, don’t write CSS when you can copy-paste it for free. Gets the work done faster, easier with the same or better result.

Hello World: Whitespace Love is On!

This was the original plan for the blog... proved to be too much work & involvement. -_-"

Finally, after much mental masturbation and procrastinating (since, errr, last year), Whitespacelover blog is up and running! Writing you from the sunny island, Haiti.

Much could be said about trying to be things which you’re not, and that is the excuse for the delayed release of this blog: if you’re a graphic designer you don’t try to code CSS for a blog template, that’s like trying to become fluent in Chinese in 10 seconds! It’s a real waste of time. You’re better off reciting all Photoshop hotkeys to impress the ladies.

So without further blah blahs, let me introduce you to Whitespacelover—an online space for my portfolio, recent works and anything of visual nature! Expect a few tips and tricks along the way and from time to time, some emo entries, so bear with me. But for the most part we’ll all be love, life and peace.
